Beware of Poor Quality Imitations

Unfortunately as a direct result of its own success, the Underfloor Heating Market has become flooded with inferior Chinese imported products, offering no manufacturers warranty and little or no comeback when the product inevitably fails.
These products are usually supplied very cheaply (as manufacturing costs are kept to a minimum, using inferior products which are unfortunately not suitable for the purpose).

As a long established reputable supplier, The Floor Heating Warehouse, and also Flexel International Ltd as a manufacturer with over 30 years experience, have strived to ensure the underfloor heating systems available, are of the highest quality possible and offer maximum customer satisfaction. The emergence of these cheaply manufactured imitations will inevitably lead to customer dissatisfaction and we therefore feel a duty to highlight any possible issues and in turn protect the good name and customer faith, of what is one of the leading heating innovations on the market today.

These Chinese imports can be very good copies, but do not have the correct certification for use as electric underfloor heating, have little or no quality control and will inevitably fail during normal use.
As an example, Flexel International manufacture (and The Floor Heating Warehouse supply) a carbon based heating element named Ecofilm, at their factory in Fife, Scotland. This product has now been copied in China and imported into the UK for re-sale. Already Flexel International have received numerous reports from customers, of this imported product failing. Unfortunately after purchasing a poor quality copy, most customers have to choose between either removing their floor and laying the official Ecofilm Element, or leaving the failed inferior product and living with a cold floor.


Ask the Supplier

Please, if you have any doubts about the heating you are purchasing, then as the customer you have the right to ask your chosen supplier questions such as :

- Where the product was manufactured, and for proof of manufacture if possible.

- What guarantee is offered on the product: The best guarantee available is a manufacturers warranty. Any reputable manufacturer will offer a fully backed warranty against any manufacturing defects - and will do all means necessary within the warranty period to rectify any problems.
Please bear in mind that a warranty offered by the supplier is only relevant whilst that supplier is in business and you may not have the same rights as that covered by a manufacturers warranty.
And beware of a lifetime warranty. Does this mean the lifetime of the product, or the lifetime of the company supplying it ? These warranties have many different interpretations.

- Do some research. Look at the manufacturers reputation. A simple search on our manufacturer 'Flexel International' for example, will show a quality manufacturers website offering information advice and assistance.
